Insight Credit Union donates over 600 pounds of food to Central Florida food pantries
ORLANDO, FL (June 9, 2015) – During Insight Credit Union’s 3rd Annual “Kids Helping Kids” Summer Food Drive, members and employees donated over 600 pounds of non-perishable food items to Central Florida food pantries in need.
The “Kids Helping Kids” Summer Food Drive was created in an effort to help fight childhood hunger during the summer vacation months when children no longer receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Members of the credit union were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items at any of its 17 branches for a chance to win a Family 4-Pack of tickets to Universal. The winner of this drawing will be announced by June 20, 2015.
Proceeds from the “Kids Helping Kids” Summer Food Drive benefited food pantries around Central Florida, including Second Harvest Food Bank, Real Life Food Pantry, Citrus United Basket, Interfaith Emergency Services and Darters’ Nest Food Pantry at Apopka High School.
“Summertime marks a critical time for food pantries in Central Florida as the need for child-friendly, healthy food escalates,” said Melissa Boyink, marketing director for Insight Credit Union. “We are thankful for all of our members and employees who donated to support this worthwhile cause.”
